Today, November 8, 2020, is Father’s Day in Sweden. Like many other holidays with my family, we do not celebrate them on the same day.

We are in the industry that requires us to serve others at different times, whether it is a weekend, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day or New Year’s Eve.

It was difficult from the beginning for us, especially when we were as a couple and no children. I was always alone on a Friday night or weekend. Then it got a little easier with time when we became three in the family. I then had other things to think about, had other things to do and focus.

Still, some periods were hard! For me, it was very hard when Valentine’s Day came. I tried to forget the day and instead came up with something else to pass the day.

Today, our son is almost 8 years old and still the same. Today’s Father’s Day celebration we have to wait until Monday, when Dad is in Gävle today, where he works.
